The Repsol Honda team in the MotoGP category got two runner-up places, one in the individual category with Dani Pedrosa, and one for teams. The Spanish rider was very consistent, seven podium finishes, two victories (the decider in Cheste was spectacular) and four fourth places in spite of the difficulties he had with his tyres. The two big news stories were the extension of the sponsorship agreement between Repsol and Honda Racing Corporation for 2 more years, and an extension to Pedrosa`s contract which guarantees his presence in this team for the same períod of time.
On the other hand Nicky Hayden defended his 2006 world title with pride in spite of having problems the whole season. The American got three consecutive podium finishes (Holland, Germany and the Czech Republic), and showed that he was very competitive in spite of his difficulties.
In the lower categories both Julián Simón and Shuehi Aoyama, in 250cc, as well as Bradley Smith and Esteve Rabat, in 125cc, continued to make progress and showed that they will be capable of racing at a higher level confirming that the Repsol Honda Team is a one of the best examples of a team that backs good young riders. Moreover, they provided some joy with podiums for Smith (Le Mans, third) and Rabat (Shanghai, third).
